What does the heart do?
Blood that is provided through out your body provides the body with the oxygen, and specific nutrients that your body will need. It also carries away the waste that your body carries over time. The heart is described as two pumps in one.

A normal heart beat between the ages! 18 and older is between 60 and 100 bpm (beats per minute.) It also depends on the individual's physical condition and their age.

What does the heart need to function?
The heart is a very important muscle and is very important for you to take care of it properly. The right side of your heart receives oxygen and poor blood that is gathered from the veins and gets pumped straight to the lungs where is picks up oxygen and gets rid of any carbon dioxide. The left side of the heart is the section that receives oxygen and rich blood from the lungs and pumps it through the arties to the rest of the body.
How is blood pressure measured?
Measuring blood pressure is a painless yet very simple task, using an object called and pressure cuff. Although the doctors calls it a "sphygmomanometer" it consists of a small pressure gadget attached to a cuff. The cuff is then wrapped around the arm. Next what is done is a Pressure that's known to be much higher than the systolic blood pressure. When the cuff later deflates there will be a certain sound and when it stops it indicates the diastolic blood pressure.
